Amid my travels, encountering diverse individuals and forming connections, I found myself engaged in a conversation with a business associate in Asia. During our discussion about destiny, he asserted, “It is our destiny.” This concept, often associated with the Western worldview, prompted me to question the need for effort if destiny was preordained.

As we delved into the intricacies of destiny, pondering the transient nature of relationships and the unpredictable twists of life, I posed a thought-provoking scenario. What if I were to commit suicide tonight? Or if he were to be struck by a car? Would such events imply that our destinies were not aligned with our intended paths? The answers eluded me.

To those seeking profound insights or a magical revelation, I must confess my uncertainty. In my journey through the twists and turns of business life, I’ve faced numerous challenges, much like many of you. While I may not claim to comprehend the entirety of my destined purpose, I’ve reached a point in my life where I’ve chosen not to rely solely on destiny.

Instead, I opt for preparedness. To be ready for whatever destiny has in store, I dedicate myself to doing the necessary work. I aspire to be a responsible steward, capable of embracing the opportunities and responsibilities bestowed upon me by destiny.
